Law Named after New Mexico State University Student Awaits President’s Signature
The gruesome murder of NMSU Student Katie Sepich rocked the City of Las Cruces in 2003. Current governor, Suzanna Martinez was the prosecutor in the case.
Interesting fact was that the killer was identified through DNA Evidence. The New Mexico Congressional Delegation has pushed for a national law to collect DNA from “people arrested or charged with serious crimes.”
The US Congress has approved “Katie’s Law,” and President Obama is expected to sign it soon.
