Our Schools are failing our Children…It’s Time for Bold Action

Our Schools are failing our Children…It’s Time for Bold Action

The Report Cards are in for New Mexico Schools and the outlook is very dire.  ABQ Journal Staff Writer, Hailey Heinz in her July 23, 2011 article basically laid it out on the table…”87% of NM’s Schools Get Failing Grade.”

Frankly, this is unacceptable.  There is no reason at this point to be consulting with the same bureaucracy to come up with solution for the same problem.  It’s time for new and bold ideas…like dissolving some of these school boards.  It seems to me that these bureaucracies are more self-serving than anything else. It is time to reform the Public School System.

Let the result speaks for itself, “Only 13 percent of schools across the state and about 4 percent of APS schools made Adequate Yearly Progress under the No Child Left Behind Act this year, in a sharp decrease from last year.”

Wake Up New Mexico!

Wow that is strange and sad - 87% are failing.

Whatever it takes, whatever it costs - get your Children out of Government Schools, and get them into Non-Unionized Private or Parochial Schools.

Good Evening C Lloyd, New Mexico still has some excellent schools, most of them are private and that is sad.

When I came to NM in 1996, we started off in the Public Schools...it was a disaster.  Well, it didn't take long, to see the writing on the wall.  Both of my children attended Albuquerque Academy.

....meanwhile Rahm sends his kids to private schools, as does Obama and as did the Clintons and Gores.  Jeb Bush was on Hannity last week and he had some great ideas that he implimented in Florida while Gov.

The issues with school are being politicized...we need real solutions.  I believe in Public Education, of which I am a product of.  I attended the Jamaican Public School System.  In Jamaica the Public Schools always outperform the Private Schools.  Let's start by dissolving all the boards of education in each locality.  They are lile Homeowners Associations, and they can be viscious.

It will be impossible to compete in the world unless something is done quickly to correct this situation.  Too much focus  on politics and not enough  on teaching the basics of reading, writing and math.
