Maceo Parker Rocks the House…Albuquerque SUMMERFEST, 2011

Maceo Parker Rocks the House…Albuquerque SUMMERFEST, 2011

If you missed last night’s SUMMERFEST under the stars, you missed a great one… a little rain and a little wind could not dampen the spirits of at least 20,000 in attendance.  Saxophonist, Maceo Parker really rocked the house.  Now if you recall, he was a part of the Horn Section for the Godfather of Soul, James Brown. He also played with BOOTSIE COLLINS, FUNKADELIC, and PARLIAMENT. We were treated with a little of everything.

Judging by the turnout, the local businesses did great last night. I am already looking forward to SUMMERFEST, 2012.  Hopefully, organizers will consider several more venues for next.  Maybe they will invite some reggae artists too.

Good Evening C Lloyd, we should have stayed in New Mexico longer.  My wife would have loved the concert.  An excellent post to promote your community.

Lloyd, I remember James Brown calling out, "Maceo, blow your horn" on some of those oldies from the '60s and '70s. Can the old dude still blow?

Good Evening Gentlemen, thanks for your comment!

Wayne, Maceo was awesome.  He can still blow that horn!
