Albuquerque, like most cities in the USA has its fair share of crime. Having lived here for over 16 years I can say unequivocally, that Albuquerque is a great place to live. Unfortunately, there are people out there who for one reason or another do not exercise situational awareness. Maybe it’s my military background, but then again it could just be plain common-sense. I do not walk around in Downtown Albuquerque with a wad of cash in my hands.
Below, I have provided a few reasons why I believe that Albuquerque is a great place to live:
Homes for Sale in Albuquerque are more reasonable than in most big cities across the USA. You can own a home for what most people rent an apartment for.
If you like the outdoors, Albuquerque is a must.
Albuquerque hosts the annual International Balloon Fiesta.
Albuquerque is home to Kirtland Air Force Base, Sandia National Lab. and the Air Force Research Laboratory. These are the biggest employers in the city
Cost of Living in Albuquerque is much lower than most major cities.
Public transportation is not the best, but Albuquerque is relatively small, and does not have the kind of traffic problems like Atlanta and Dallas for example.
Albuquerque Public Schools, get a bad rap in my opinion. I strongly believe that in order for a school to succeed, it needs the support of the entire community. It takes a collaborative effort between school officials, teachers, city government, parents and their children (students) to achieve success. It is a very daunting task.
Find me a school with an active Parent Association, I give you a successful school. Albuquerque is indeed a great place to live.
