Ian's Foundation-Great Deeds Sometimes Flow From Tragedy
Ian Fincke died at the age of sixteen (16) years old from a traumatic brain injury in October 2008. Ian had a skateboarding accident.
A foundation was formed in his memory to promote safety and the welfare of San Antonio youth. The foundation conducts educational and recreational programs to expose youngsters to what can happen from accidental brain trauma and to teach safe playing habits.
The Fincke Cup
Ian was a soccer player at Reagan High School before he transferred to Johnson High School. The Fincke Cup is a soccer match between the varsity boys and girls teams of the two high schools Ian attended. The scores of the two games are combined to determine the overall winner of the Finke Cup. On Tuesday, February 19, 2013, the Fourth Annual Finke Cup Contest will be held at Comalander Stadium, 12002 Jones Maltsberger Road, 78238. Both schools are in the North East Independent School District.
